Lumiere Bros. vs. Melies

The history of cinema is divided between the realist tradition started
by the Lumiere Bros. (August & Louis) and the formalist tradition
started by Georges Melies. (See attached picture, a photomontage of the
entire Lumiere film.) Of course, we'll have more to say about this
important subject.
